Q&A: BOBBY ANTHONY Talks New Track ‘Last Night’ w/ SNOOP DOGG, Prefers Wearing Briefs

…and in my ideal world, he was wearing only briefs during this interview. Newcomer Bobby Anthony hails from Phoenix but is making quite a splash here in L.A. He’s currently featured on Ian Carey‘s new track ‘Last Night,’ alongside Snoop Dogg.

Track is by far one of my current faves – so much so I wanted to find out what else we can expect from the handsome songmeister. (One thing I did learn, he definitely likes the ladies, can’t blame me for trying tho, rght? He’s hot! lol)

Anthony talks up the new track, his thoughts on the Biz, deetz on his forthcoming album ‘Access Granted’ and much more – lets get to it:

Muzo: How did you hook up with Ian and Snoop for ‘Last Night’?

BA: ‘Last Night’ is actually an old song that I wrote drunk, after a wild night out about 3 years ago. It got in Ian’s hands by a fellow songwriter friend of both of ours (Jenson Vaughan). The whole Snoop thing came about just randomly one day thanks to a friend of ours. I got to hang with Snoop at his condo all day while he recorded his part of the record. It was pretty surreal to be quite honest. Such a blessing to work with both of these amazing artists.

Muzo: The vid and track are awesome man, you ready for the wild ride ahead? What kind of response have you already gotten?

BA: Thank you very much. As far as being ‘ready,’ I dont think anyone is ever ‘ready’…I mean..it’s a lot of emotions. One day can be crazy busy, productive and maybe a bit overwhelming, when others can be borrrrring Lol. You’ve just got roll with it and enjoy each moment. I am excited to see what comes my way next. This is a dream….and I know I’m bound to wake up one day…I am ‘ready’ for that.

We’ve gotten a lot of great feedback on both the song and the video! It’s just a really fun song that everyone can relate to. Who doesnt like fun?

Muzo: Your voice man, wow! When can we expect an album – and in the interim, where else can we find stuff from you?

BA: Oh wow, thank you! I’m currently working on my album which will be titled ‘Access Granted’ and will feature a few of my friends/artists. I don’t have a release date yet, but I’m hoping for some time around summer. At the moment, the best way to keep up with me is to add any of my social networks sites (ie; Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc.)

Muzo: There’s a stellar Afrojack remix of ‘Last Night’ out now, too. How did that come to be? He’s by far one of my favorite current mixmasters.

BA: Likewise! Last summer I told my best friend at one of his many gigs (World renown Trumpet Player Rico Delargo) That in 2011 one of my many goals was to have one of my songs remixed by Afrojack. Not only did that happen, but David Guetta opened his 1st mix of the year with ‘Last Night.’ I owe it all to Ian Carey, he’s been such a blessing…seriously. Oh BTW I call the Afrojack mix the PEEmix. Lol

Muzo: When you’re kickin’ it at home or with friends, what do you like to listen to?

BA: When I’m home, I love to listen to ’90s R&B (Jodeci, Joe, Raphael Saadiq), a lil bit of Sade, Maxwell and a hint of MGMT. I like sexy music…I like sexy…sexy is good. When I’m hangin’ with friends..I like some light house..Ian Carey, Kaskade, Morgan Page, etc.

Muzo: Complete the sentence: L.A. is…

BA: …a dream that came true for me.

Muzo: Boxers or briefs?

BA: Briefs for sure, except when I’m just loungin’, then it’s boxers.

Muzo: Where will you be in 5 years?

BA: 5 years from now I will be sharing my latest music & BBQ’ing with my whole family.

Muzo: The Biz: Pros and cons?

BA: The Biz…hmm…well…this business is a mother effffer. Good and bad. I love it.

Muzo: Advice to newbies trying to make a name for themselves?

BA: Be you, do you, stay fresh. Believe in yourself. Take chances, dont be scurrrred.

Muzo: What’s next for Bobby?

BA: Just taking it one day at a time, taking vocal and piano lessons trying to get better with each day. I’m excited to see what becomes of ‘Last Night’ and to share new music with you all.
