Bold, sensual, thought-provoking, creative, erotic…and lets face it: Damn hot! Just a few things that come to my mind when describing L.A.-based photog Justin Monroe. Big fan of this guy’s work, so thrilled to be debuting his latest collection ‘Insemination’ here.

His erotic, in-your-face and unapologetic imagery feature shots of people from all walks of life: celebrities, porn stars, magicians, circus freaks and ever-so-perfect male specimens. Always a surprise and never predictable, it is so much fun diving into his imagination of voyeuristic depravity. So lets see what’s up with the man himself and take a trip to Monroeland:

Q: What inspires you to shoot the images that we all know so well?
A: I guess you can say I’m a bit of a nomad. I like to travel and explore differences and not sameness, this has been with me ever since childhood. Someone with a limp inspires me more than someone who can walk straight. I am fascinated by oversized lips, asses and boobs – anything different, exaggerated, odd or ‘not the normal’ makes me want to pick up my camera. Shooting headshots make me want to vomit in a paper bag. It has to say something to me, or I pretty much suck at it, it’s just the way I am wired.

Q: We have seen your work with Perez Hilton, Janice Dickinson, Amanda Lepore and Erik Rhodes, well pretty much all the gay porn community, what is like shooting such characters?
A: For me, it’s not even like a job; it is completely free and fun with no boundaries. When I bring a subject into my world, I like to make them feel like they are a child in room full of toys, where they can let there guard down and allow their inner self to evolve and be free. This for me makes the best photographs. Each starlet that you just named is so comfortable, professional and confident with themselves that it makes my job wickedly fun and makes each image authentic.

Q: In this photo essay that you call Insemination we notice you are one of the models, tells what’s going on with that?
A: (laughs) well… once a camera whore always a camera whore!!!

Q: What is the inspiration behind this collection of images?
A: It takes place in the year 3069, planet Earth has been polluted with toxins, ravished by global warming and the male species has evolved to overcome the severe changes. Scientists in genetic laboratories with their advanced technology and cloning capabilities have figured out a way to procreate the new master race through a male to male insemination process in state-of-the -art breeding tanks filled with embryonic fluid. Everything must be perfect testosterone levels, tank temperature, sedimentation rate and gestational period. This can only be achieved in total darkness for sunshine or light will disrupted the entire process and create deformed mutant offspring. This is a very delicate balance: everything must be perfect to create the immaculate male specimen.

Q: Speaking of Immaculate male specimen, talk about the model in the tank with you to have these babies with?
A: His name is Bobby Momenteller and he’s pretty perfect. So if I was looking for a husband or the perfect breeding mate he would be at the top of my list. Shooting together was effortless because we had amazing chemistry behind the lens. Bobby is a true professional and we shot the entire sequence in less than one hour. But I’ll tell you something, that tank was motherfucking cold. Thank god I had such a hotty to keep me warm, it was a lot of fun.

Q We have noticed that your work has changed considerably since your debut book ‘Down The Rabbit Hole,’ it seems a bit darker and more erotic. I’ve noticed even that your color choices are muted and not as vivid as the Justin Monroe images we have grown familiar with. What’s changed?
A: It’s all about evolution for me, before everything was so brightly saturated in my work probably because I see everything in color, but I have taken myself in to an new place where I have been diving into darker tones and even black and white imagery. For me, it keeps it fresh and interesting; I can’t keep doing the same thing over and over. Like Madonna says: You can’t learn anything by standing still.

Q: So what new surprises are we gonna be seeing coming from you then?
A: I am working on two book projects currently one called ‘Play Things,’ it’s a dark erotic fantasy book about live sex toys created by a perverted obsessed toy maker creating naughty little toys to go out into the world find new homes shaking up ones mundane life. They may look harmless but be warned these toys when provoked will bite. (Muzo Note: OMG, where do I audition!? lol) The second book is called ‘Cherry.’ It is a hot little romp of hyper sexual male perfection, lots of T&A, boys and girls. Cherry has more abs, bubble butts and humongous penises and that’s just on page one, so abandon your morals and step right in. Also I am working on a couple of new video projects which we will share with you next time we speak.
